The hiking adventure Chogoria down Sirimon is a popular and scenic route that gives trekkers the opportunity to experience the diverse landscape of Mount Kenya. We start hiking from lush forest and Bamboo zones to the Alpine moorlands, rocky peaks and down the rain forest. DAY 1: NAIROBI – CHOGORIA CAMP.

The Chogoria down Sirimon adventure starts with a pick up from Nairobi Hotel the shuttle bus to Nanyuki arriving in time for Lunch. Later a 4X4 will transfer you the start point where we cover 4 hours hiking adventure via Bamboo forest to arrive at Kenya wildlife service entrance of Chogoria Bandas. Late afternoon is good for an optional walk to acclimatize, later dinner and overnight.

DAY 2: CHOGORIA BANDAS – LAKE ELLIS.

Breakfast and commence the hiking adventure with spectacular views of rolling hills and peaks of Batian and Nelion. The hiking is short and we arrive at the camp before noon, relax as you wait for hot lunch. Afternoon enjoy the views around Lake Ellis to acclimatize more and prepare for high attitudes. An evening walk before sunset to Mugi Hill can be a great idea to end the day and will make your ascent a lot easier as well, dinner and overnight at Lake Ellis.

DAY 3: LAKE ELLIS – LAKE MICHAELSON.

We start the day with a cup of tea from our chef as we enjoy the beautiful views from here. Enjoy a beautiful walk which takes you up the along the ridge overlooking the Gorges valley as we approach the Lake Michaelson. Break for lunch with the spectacular views of the lake Michaelson, continue with the hiking adventure and descend to Lake Michaelson campsite top relax. Evening if flexible you can enjoy a short Nature walk, dinner and overnight.

DAY 4: LAKE MICHAELSON – AUSTRIAN HUTS.

After breakfast and views of the sunrise, between 0830 hrs and 0900 hrs we start a beautiful hiking around the peaks. There are so many little tarns you will encounter on this hiking. We arrive at the Austrian hut in time for hot lunch. Later afternoon you can wander around as you enjoy the views and prepare for the summit. We advise you have dinner early and sleep also early so as to be ready on time for attempting the summit.

4 – 5 Hours hiking adventure.
15 kms distance covered.
4,670 meters above the sea level.

DAY 5: AUSTRIAN HUTS – POINT LENANA – OLD MOSES – SIRIMON GATE – NAIROBI.

Early morning at around 0200 hrs enjoy a cup of tea or coffee and get ready to start the attempt to the summit. We arrive at the summit before sunrise for great and amazing views, enjoy sunrise and take great pictures. The descent takes you down the southern side along the Sirimon route and the rain forest where you will brunch at the Mackinder valley.

Enjoy the final walk down to Old Moses camp, relax a bit as you wait for a vehicle for transfer to Nanyuki for a shuttle bus to Nairobi. Upon arrival pick up and transfer to your Nairobi hotel at least to enjoy a great bath, relax and prepare for other Kenya safari destinations or other safari packages.

Welcome for a great and popular Mount Kenya Trek via Naro Moru route to point Lenana peak and down the same route. The accommodation is on huts at Met Stations and Mackinder huts for all the three nights. The trekking can be done by individuals as you will be accompanied by a guide, porters and chef. The Naro Moru route is popular and famous for its speed trekking but we also have another great Route for the same days Sirimon down sirimon or Sirimon down chogoria route. DAY 1: NAIROBI – NARO MORU GATE.

Depart Nairobi early in the morning accompanied by your guide; you may opt for a shuttle bus or a private transfer at extra cost. Upon arrival at Nanyuki have a chance to do some shopping or collect some climbing gear to enable you has a successful Mount Kenya trek. Transfer to Naro Moru gate for registration and hiking up to Met station.

DAY 2: MET STATION – MACKINDER HUTS.

DAY 3: MACKINDER HUTS – POINT LENANA – MET STATION.

Mount Kenya trek starts very early in the morning at 0200am to attempt the summit, through the bare rocks and shree via Austrian huts. We enjoy the sunrise with great and amazing views from all directions. Take great Pictures at Lenana peak, and then we start to descend back to Mackinder huts for breakfast and later further to Met station for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

DAY 1: TRANSFER TO MASAI MARA.

Here you will enjoy an optional guided nature walk with the local guides upto the geothermal plant. Return to pick the bikes or catch up with your guide, ascent to the main gate then exit. DAY 7: ARUSHA – TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK.

Tarangire National Park has the highest concentration of African elephants in the whole of Northern Tanzania Parks. The land is also covered by the largest massive baobab trees. We experience the best during the dry season between June and October as more than 300 elephants meet at Tarangire River in search of drinking water. The River acts as a magnet to attract wild animals offering a thrilling game drive along its River banks. We leave Arusha after breakfast and are equipped with packed picnic lunches for a great Kenya-Tanzania budget safari safari experience. DAY 1: ARUSHA – MACHAME CAMP.

Breakfast at your Arusha hotel then before 0800am meet our driver, guides, porters, and chef for a transfer to Machame gate via Machame village. Registration and immediately we commence the Mount Kilimanjaro Machame route walking through the dense forest of fig and rubber trees, and other tropical vegetation. The more we ascend the vegetation will keep changing, walk on the ridge and the Samira stream on the left and to the right weru weru.

This initial stage of Machame route climb is tranquil and relatively easy to cover and there is little to cover. The mountain crew will recommend a slow ascent for gradual acclimatization. The porters and chef may hurry to Machame camp 10,000 fts for preparation of dinner, so never keep up with their face, enjoy the beauty of the rain forest.

DAY 2: MACHAME CAMP – SHIRA CAMP.

Breakfast will be ready by 0600 am and the chef will greet you with a cup of tea and coffee. On a clear morning enjoy a fabulous view of Uhuru Peak. The day climb takes you up a steep track through the savannah of tall grasses, volcanic rocks, and bearded heather. You will come across giant groundsels as you climb through a ghostly landscape of volcanic lava, caves, and foamy streams.

The guide will recommend walking slowly and taking some rest, enjoying your lunch and views of the Shira plateau. We arrive at Shira camp at 12,500 fts in the early evening to relax, have dinner, and overnight.

DAY 3:SHIRA CAMP TO BARRANCO CAMP.

We wake up at 0600 am for breakfast and views of the entire Shira plateau sweeping vistas across to Meru and the Shira needles. Today’s climb takes us up to a higher altitude Lava Tower at 15,000 fts and descent down to Barranco camp crossing the Bastains stream. The descent takes us along an immense canyon called Grand Barranco.

We will also find numerous waterfalls which are fed by streams coming from the mountain and converging to form the sources of the Umbwe River. We spend the night at Barranco camp which has the same attitude as Shira Camp.

DAY 4: BARRANCO CAMP – KARANGA CAMP.

After breakfast we spend the day acclimatizing as we conquer the great Barranco wall which may look intimidating at first glance, climbers state that this class 2 hike is usually easier than they anticipate. While at the top of the wall, you will have a view of Heim Glacier and will be above the clouds. The trail then winds up and down the Karanga valley making it an ideal climbing day. We spend the night at Karanga Valley 13,100 fts from 13,000 fts of Barranco Camp.

DAY 5: KARANGA CAMP – BARAFU HUT.

After well served breakfast we leave Karanga Camp 3959m and follow the trail that intersects with the Mweka Route used to descend on the final two days. We make a stopover at Barafu hut which is the last water stop for porters as there is no accessible water at Barafu camp 4550m. Barafu Camp {Swahile word translated as Ice) is located on a rocky, exposed ridge. Our tents will be exposed to wind and rocks so we need to familiarize ourselves with the campsite before darkness.

We will also enjoy an early dinner to enable us to relax and rest before attempting the summit as the final part ascent. Briefing from the guide then enjoy your short sleep at Barafu Hut 4600m.

DAY 6: BARAFU CAMP 15,300 fts – SUMMIT 5885M – MWEKA HUTS 10,000 fts.

By midnight enjoy breakfast and start the final part of the Machame route climbing to attempt the summit before sunrise. We follow the route northwest where we ascend over stone shree, this is the most physically and mentally challenging part of the climb. We arrive at Stella Point with an elevation of 5685M located on the crater rim to enjoy a magnificent sunrise.

We continue ascending on a snow-covered trail to Uhuru Peak which is the highest peak in Africa region, achieve a lifetime accomplishment enjoy the views from all directions, take pictures, and enjoy tea. After you are satisfied we descend to Mweka huts which will take at least 3 to 4 Hours.

DAY 7: MWEKA HUTS – MWEKA GATE – ARUSHA.

Breakfast and celebration for a successful Machame route climbing adventure, appreciate the guides, Porters, and cook by presenting them with tips. Descend for at least three hours to Mweka Gate to receive your certificates of achievement as per the point each reached. We trek further down the Mweka Village to the point of Hot Lunch. Meet our Driver for the final transfer to Arusha for the long overdue shower, celebration, and other plans to other safari destinations or back home.

DAY 1: ARUSHA – MARANGU GATE – MANDARA HUTS.

Pick up from Arusha Hotel or Moshi Hotel and drive via Marangu village to Marangu gate for registration. Here you must have a senior and junior guide, 2-3 porters, and one chef who will accompany you up and down Marangu Route climbing. We cover a distance of 7 km from Marangu gate to Mandara huts. We cover the rain forest and see some of the animals like Columbus monkeys and birds. The elevation of 2740 metres above sea level. From Mandara Hut take a walk to Muindi Crater and enjoy the views of Nothern Tanzania and Kenya. Return to the huts for the first night in Mount Kilimanjaro, dinner, and overnight.

DAY 2: MANDARA HUTS – HOROMBO HUTS.

Our Marangu route climbing commences immediately after breakfast and is scheduled for 7 to 8 hours of climbing. We cover a distance of 11 kilometers from Mandara Huts to Horombo Huts. We cover the rainy forest and moorlands with the views of Horombo escarpments. We start experiencing the effects of the attitude as we will be at 3700 kilometers above sea level. We enjoy views of the Kibo Summit and Mawenzi small peak views.

DAY 3: HOROMBO HUTS.

Breakfast then spend the day acclimatizing with a circuit walk from Horombo Huts, Mawenzi, and Kibo peaks back to Horombo Huts. This helps us to prepare for a higher attitude and get used to the current attitude. Anyone experiencing difficulties may prepare to descend back and not attempt the summit. The guides will assist in making sure each is fit to continue with the Marangu route climbing to Kibo Huts.

DAY 4: HOROMBO HUTS – KIBO HUTS.

After sharing breakfast with guides, porters, and chef we commence the Marangu route climbing to cover 10 kilometres from Horombo to Kibo huts. The estimated climbing hours are 7 to 8 hours as we ascend and descend the peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo summit. At Kibo Huts we will prepare to summit up to Uhuru Peak the following morning.

DAY 5: KIBO HUTS – UHURU PEAK – HOROMBO HUTS.

The chef will serve breakfast very early in the morning so that by 0200 am we start our climb for 4 Kilometers up to the summit point. Marangu route climbing is the easiest route and we will arrive at the peak of 5895mtres/19340 ft before sunrise. Enjoy thrilling views from all directions, celebrate, and take great pictures. Later we have to descend a total of 14 kilometres down to Horombo huts. You are a conqueror having reached the highest peak in Africa. We enjoy our Lunches at Kibo Huts, relax a bit, and continue to Horombo Huts for dinner and overnight.

DAY 6: HOROMBO HUTS – MARANGU GATE – ARUSHA.

Early breakfast then get ready for 18 kilometers as we descend the final part of Marangu route climbing. We walk through the moorlands and rainy forest. Arrive at Marangu gate to receive our certificates of our climbing achievement. Meet the car and driver then drive to Arusha or Moshi Hotel where you will say bye-bye to your Mount Kilimanjaro crews.
